IBeX Greets Humanity

Giant Gumleaf Art

The GIANT GUMLEAF, Art Work in the Bush, Blue Mountains National Park

Seen in the middle of the iconic Giant Gum Leaf is a human being lying on the ground in the Blue Mountains Australia. It is Andy Macqueen celebrating by forming a human X or body kiss. He did this during celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Blue Mountains National Park in 2007. The place is Bluegum Forest in the Grose Valley at Blackheath NSW. The Giant Gumleaf enclosing his body kiss was made up of more than 80 “little tents”, just like the tents Bushwalkers live in as they explore the wild country of the world. Now some years later Wyn Jones has created the concept of the IBeX shorthand for the

“International Body Kiss”. In French it is “Baiser Corp International”. In Italian it is Baccio del Corporo del Internazionale”.

Here is the current symbol for IBeX
